The city of Ensenada has many sites for you and your loved ones to enjoy an entertaining afternoon in, starting with the Malecón "Ventana al Mar" (Window to the Sea), where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll in the salty sea breeze. A place where you can readily expect to encounter beautiful sunrises and sunsets!
As you near the end of the boardwalk you’ll find the Mexican flag flying a few hundred feet overhead, and below, the interactive water fountains that bring the district to life every night. Just a few feet away you can visit the "Plaza Cívica", where the sculpted heads of Benito Juárez, Miguel Hidalgo and Venustiano Carranza are immortalized.
As you continue a ways down you can expect to cross paths with welcoming street vendors who will undoubtedly offer you memorable souvenirs of your trip. If you start to feel hungry, we welcome you to walk down the legendary “Calle Primera”, where you’ll be surrounded by popular restaurants and bars as well as taco and seafood stands - traditional staples for visiting tourists.
Bear in mind that from December through April one of the most spectacular natural showcases in the world takes place- the gray whale migration. You’ll be able to appreciate these colossal mammals up close when they arrive at the “Bahía de Todos los Santos” (Bay of Saints) in Ensenada.
Another daily spectacle that takes place is “La Bufadora”, a natural sea geyser that captivates both children and adults alike. The geyser effect of La Bufadora is triggered by the breaking of the waves against a cave at the base of the cliff. The water expels with such force that it has been recorded to exceed heights of over 65 feet - or 5 stories high.
Ensenada is likewise regarded as the capital of the Wine Route in Baja California, so we recommend a visit to its wineries to sample the highest quality wines, which have been internationally recognized and awarded.
Visit Ensenada this spring and spend an entertaining weekend with your loved ones surrounded by nature, fine cuisine and, above all, breathtaking landscapes.
